Soul Loft featuring Frankee Razor & Radio May 25th

We are going strong. This is the fifth month that Soul Loft has been alive and kicking and there’s no sign of us backing down… This Tuesday, we have two incredible indie artists, Rock/Soul artist Frankee Razor and emcee Radio. Check out more below:

Frankee Razor “ur local Hip Hop Jimi Hendrix” is a Rock / Soul recording artist for the new millennium and the new wave he sets out to create will be groundbreaking, establishing the next trend in popular music for young urban rockers to follow.  This singer/songwriter has beautifully crafted over 500 songs that transcend time, race, and gender.  Frankee Razor possesses the voice of a modern Prince, exudes the magnetic, controversial quality of a male Madonna, while inhabiting the mysterious, captivating texture of a young Jimi Hendrix.  His music will be compelling audiences young and old for years upon years to come.

Check out a clip of his rehearsal, prepping for Soul Loft:

Radio was born and raised in Southern California. His love for music came in his early years after high school. Influenced by legends such as Lauren Hill, Kanye West, and Raphael Saadiq to name a few, he began to write. While writing to other producer’s beats, he decided that he wasn’t content with what was being offered, so he began to produce alongside his writing. The future of hip-hop was born.

Today, Radio has been compared to Kanye West, A Tribe Called Quest, Lupe and others along those lines. He has a unique sound, context, and delivery placing him in his own genre, alternative urban hip-hop. His ability and “ear” to masterly produce and write his own music enhances his creative style and technique. This is only the beginning of the making…

Joonie

Calvin “Joonie” Gary, Jr., better known by his stage name Joonie is an American singer, songwriter, arranger and musician, specializing in Soul, R&B and Popular music. Born December 11, 1981 in Jacksonville, North Carolina into a musical family, whose mother was a singer and father a keyboardist, Joonie’s talent is genetic and his passion is influenced by his environment, where gospel and soul music were always a part of his life.

Acoustic Love, Joonie’s debut album, released April 27, 2010 is real music, expressing his feelings about love and relationships, explored from a very rare point of view in current popular music; one where romance exists, women, are valued and appreciated, a story is told and pure emotions are expressed set to perfect arrangements with infectious rhythms.

Prior to Acoustic Love, Joonie has written, arranged, produced and / or played instrumentals for other artists including, Elliot Yamin, Ruben Stoddard, Nappy Roots and has recorded unreleased collaborations with Angie Stone and Mos Def.

Legs

Legs is a multi-faceted emcee, guitarist, producer, and songwriter from Los Angeles.  Arias Williams– as it says on his social security card—draws inspiration from every circumstance in which he is immersed.  One need only spend five minutes with Legs to see that he lives, breathes, and bleeds music.  When he talks, he spits verses; when he sits idle, he strums melodies; and when he taps his fingers, he composes beats.

Legs grew up a fan of Hip Hop music and was educated and inspired by such artists as Outkast, Ice Cube, Goodie Mob, Lauryn Hill, Black Star, Bob Marley, and Curtis Mayfield.  Legs knew from an early age that he wanted to be a leader and avoice for the voiceless but it was not until he visited Africa that he truly grasped the depth and scope of Hip Hop’s influence.  It was then that music turned from a passion into a mission. Legs’ rhymes about justice, spirituality, history and politics stay true to this introspective and charismatic emcee’s voice, and his live performance delivers on the powerful and passionate energy that his fans have come to expect.

In early 2009, Legs dropped his first self-titled EP, Legs, and his second album, The Green Zone, is due to drop this summer.  The Green Zone combines the acoustic guitar with elements of Hip Hop, Folk, and a little something he likes to call  4Real H.O.P..  In Legs’ own words, “I want to give the people something to ride to, something to sing along with, and definitely something to think about.”

KD Brosia

Undeniably appealing and compelling, K.D. Brosia is the best of classic rhythm and blues wrapped in the rawness of soul.  A tremendously gifted vocalist and writer, Mississippian K.D. Brosia is challenging those music connoisseurs disenchanted with today’s artists and music, to listen to cuts from his “Love Is…” cd, or attend one of his performances, and not fall in love with music once again.

[He] has just enough of that 90s lead voice (a dap of sandpaper timbre and melisma aplenty) to keep my head bobbing,… Brosia’s “Love Is…” delivers in performance!
Pairing with Mint Condition and vocally collaborating with Stokely Williams suggests his strength as an up and coming notable crooner.
He is a vocalist with whom to contend.

—L. Michael Gipson, Soul Tracks

On a steady incline, Brosiacs (those loving the music of K.D. Brosia), are sticking like glue to the crooner. The passion and enthusiasm Brosia delivers in performance are infectious.
As the momentum of the resurgence of true vocalists increases and audiences become less moved to applaud mediocrity, voices such as Brosia’s will remain.

Fresh Sinatra

Born John Philip James Braden, “Fresh” grew up in a somewhat strict Christian background. Born to a Pastor and an evangelist, Fresh was given a strong foundation. But like most preachers’ kids, Fresh found himself a rebel.

Fresh isn’t a thug, or a “gangsta,” not a hoodlum or a knucklehead, he’s just a man. A man who cries when he is hurt, but isn’t the one to mess with when he is angered. The man he has become is from his rearing in the church, and his running of the streets.
Fresh is what the game is missing; better yet Fresh is what the world is missing. And as much as he has to offer, he has much more to gain.  Fresh!

Ryan Pinkston

Ryan hails from Boston, Massachusetts and is an accomplished singer and a writer.  He loves to perform anything hot. But especially likes Hip-Hop producers who make hot tracks for really good R&B singers so you can feel the song. He doesn’t like to get into names though; it’s more about getting the right sound and feel and ultimately the right results from that kind of vibe.
